Sewer Line Repair
We repair and replace failing sewer laterals from the house to the main, and install new sewer connections. A camera inspection shows the pipe's condition first.

In Romeo, sewer or septic comes down to where the house sits. The village runs its own sewer system and treatment plant. Bruce Township, to the north, says only a limited area of the township has sanitary sewers. Beyond the sewer lines, a home needs its own septic system, and the Macomb County Health Department permits it.
Delpres Services is based in Harrison Township, and Romeo is part of our service area. We handle septic system installation in Macomb County, from new systems to full replacements. Inside the sewered village, we also replace sewer laterals and water service lines. Call (877) 633-5773, and we will look at the job and put a free estimate in writing.

Romeo, home of the Romeo Peach Festival each Labor Day weekend, covers about 2 square miles where four townships meet. In the village, 32 Mile is St. Clair Street. It splits Romeo between Bruce Township to the north and Washington Township to the south. Armada and Ray townships touch the east edge.
The village owns its sewer treatment plant, which sits just north of 32 Mile and west of Powell Road. Rated for 2.1 million gallons a day, it also serves part of Bruce Township, mostly its southeast portion. The village's single-family homes all sit west of the M-53 bypass, inside the original square mile.
South of 32 Mile, Washington Township's sewer district covers about a third of that township, in its south-central area. Its 2024 master plan describes farms in the upper central part and large rural estates out west. The plan says properties without sewer will continue on septic systems. Those lots, and Bruce Township beyond its limited sewer area, are where septic work happens around Romeo.
Michigan has no statewide septic code, so the Macomb County Health Department sets the rules here. Bruce Township's building page says the county regulates and issues permits for wells and septic fields. The owner applies, and an acceptable soil evaluation must come before the permit. The county asks for a backhoe on site for that evaluation, hired by the owner.
That backhoe dig is part of our excavation and site work, and we place the MISS DIG 811 notice first. Once the permit is issued, we set the tank and build the drain field to it. We leave the system open for the county inspection. After approval, we backfill in lifts and restore the yard.
NRCS soil surveys map rolling ground in Bruce Township, led by Lapeer sandy loam and Wawasee loam. Still, they rate about 81 percent of the township very limited for a conventional drain field. Slow water movement is the most common limit. On about a third of the township, the seasonal water table comes within a foot of the surface.
Romeo was incorporated in 1838, and many of its houses are old. The Census Bureau puts the median year built for village homes at 1965. About 27 percent were built in 1939 or earlier. When a house is that old, its sewer lateral can be just as old.
We run a camera inspection first, then handle sewer line replacement and repair by open trench. Village lots are narrow, most often 60 to 70 feet wide, on a grid of tree-lined streets. Mini-excavators fit those tight yards, and we restore whatever surface we open. The village DPW handles sewer and water taps, so ask it where the village's part of the line starts.
Village water comes from groundwater wells, and the 2025 water report counts zero lead service lines. It still lists 548 of the 1,575 service lines as unknown material. The village's own program sheet says its check holes at the curb box usually run 4 to 5 feet deep. When a line needs replacing, we handle the water service line replacement and restore the yard.
Macomb County requires a well and septic evaluation before closing on property that relies on them. County staff or a registered private evaluator does it, with the tank pumped while the evaluator is on site. The evaluation stays valid for one year. A failed result can lead to septic system repair or a whole new system.
The village holds steady at about 3,750 people, but Bruce Township keeps adding homes. Outside the village, its population grew from about 7,460 in 2020 to about 8,340 in 2025, by Census estimates. Census permit counts show 59 new single-family homes there in 2023 and 27 in 2025. Past the township's limited sewer area, each new house needs its own county septic permit.
The county's septic pamphlet says to keep driveways and patios off the system, and heavy vehicles off the tile field. On a septic lot, we lay out new concrete and asphalt drives clear of the tank and the field. We also build inground pools, and Bruce Township requires a building permit for a swimming pool.
