Sewer Line Repair
We repair and replace failing sewer laterals from the house to the main, and install new sewer connections. A camera inspection shows the pipe's condition first.

Most homes in Wayne went up between the 1940s and the 1960s, by the Census figures the city cites. Sewer lines that old can crack, and tree roots work their way into the cracks. When a drain backs up, city staff check whether the trouble sits in your line or the city's main. If it is in your line, the fix is sewer line repair or sewer line replacement.
Delpres Services is a site and civil contractor based in Harrison Township, and Wayne is part of our service area. We run a camera inspection first, then recommend a repair or a full sewer line replacement. We pour concrete and take down old structures here too. Call (877) 633-5773 for a free estimate.

Wayne is a Tree City USA community, and its Department of Public Works trims city trees on a routine schedule. A city tree comes down only when it is dead, dying, diseased or dangerous. Root damage to sewer lines is not one of the reasons, the DPW says.
So when roots from a city tree get into your line, the fix is in the pipe. When clogs keep coming back, the pipe itself may have failed.
A camera inspection shows where the pipe has failed and how much of it. One broken section in sound pipe calls for a sewer line repair. Trouble along much of the run points to a full replacement.
Every dig of ours starts with a MISS DIG 811 ticket. Wayne's DPW reminds residents that, by law, anyone excavating must call MISS DIG. Michigan asks for at least three business days of notice. Private lines are not marked, so a camera inspection helps us trace your sewer line first.
Federal soil data show sandy soils over a seasonal high water table under much of Wayne. On about 42 percent of the city, it rises within a foot of the surface part of the year. We dig with mini-excavators in tight yards and full-size equipment for deep commercial work.
The new pipe goes down on proper bedding at a steady slope. Pressure tests and any other required testing are done and documented before final backfill. Backfill goes back in compacted lifts, and we restore the lawn or pavement the trench crossed. Sewer lines are one part of our excavation and site work.
Wayne grew up along Michigan Avenue, and the Lower Rouge River runs through the city. The DPW keeps up 84 miles of sewer and water lines. It also cleans and televises sewer lines.
From the city's pipes, sewage moves into Wayne County's Rouge Valley interceptors and on to a regional treatment plant. The county's Lower Rouge Interceptor follows Michigan Avenue and the river from Canton Township to Dearborn Heights. A 2026 county plan for that system targets sanitary sewer overflows and lists work in Wayne.
Storm sewers carry rain to the river. The city's storm water plan lists 96 outfalls, and all of them drain to the Lower Rouge River. FEMA maps flood zones along the river and county drains such as the McClaughrey Drain and the Bingell Drain. Most of the city is mapped zone X, outside the high-risk zones.
An old garage has to come down before a new slab goes in. Wayne's curbside trash pickup does not take construction and demolition materials. On our demolition jobs, hauling the debris away is part of the work.
Wayne's garage handout calls for a 4-inch concrete floor on 4 inches of compacted sand. A masonry or attached garage needs a 42-inch foundation, and so does any garage over 400 square feet. The handout requires two inspections, the open trench and the final. Our garage slabs and foundations follow those specs.
Wayne also inspects every home before it sells, under an ordinance from 1991. The city's list of common repairs says flat concrete must be fixed to remove tripping hazards. Driveways must have a hard surface. When an inspection flags a worn drive, we handle concrete driveway replacement and repair.
