Sewer Line Replacement and Repair in Macomb County, MI

Sewer Line Repair · Macomb County, MI

Camera first, then repair or replace the line

Delpres Services handles sewer line repair and sewer line replacement across Macomb County, from the house to the main. Recurring backups and slow drains in several fixtures are the usual first signs. We run a camera inspection to see the actual condition of your line. Then we recommend a repair or a replacement, whichever the pipe calls for.

Delpres is based in Harrison Township and works across Macomb County and the rest of Metro Detroit. New sewer connections for homes and commercial buildings are part of the work too. If your home drains to a septic tank instead, the same signs can point to septic system repair. Call (877) 633-5773 for a free on-site estimate.

Should You Repair or Replace a Failing Sewer Line?

A sewer lateral is the pipe that carries waste from your house to the sewer main. Townships and cities here often call it the sewer lead. Shrub and tree roots looking for moisture work their way into cracks in the pipe. Over time, roots and waste can block the line and back sewage into the house.

A camera inspection answers the repair or replace question. It shows where the trouble sits and how much of the line it touches. One broken section in otherwise sound pipe calls for a sewer repair. Trouble along much of the run points to a full sewer line replacement.

Sewer Line Permits and Inspections in Macomb County

Permits for sewer work usually come from your city or township. In Chesterfield Township, a new sanitary sewer service lead needs a permit from the township building department. In Macomb Township, water and sewer permits come from the township's Department of Public Works. Each community's ordinance sets its own steps for tapping the main.

Expect an inspection before the trench is closed. Harrison Township's Building Department inspects plumbing work done under a permit. Clinton Township's plumbing permit covers sewer work, and no work may be covered up until it has been inspected. Your building office tells you what your address needs, and we point you there.

Sewer Line Installation From the House to the Main

Every dig starts with a call to MISS DIG 811 for utility locates. Michigan's one-call law asks for at least three business days of notice. On a contractor's job, that call is the contractor's to make. We dig with mini-excavators where access is tight and full-size equipment for deep commercial work.

The new pipe goes down on proper bedding at a steady slope toward the main. Connections follow the methods local code calls for. Pressure tests and any other required testing are done and documented before final backfill.

Backfill goes back in lifts, and each lift is compacted to limit settling later. Then we restore the lawn or pavement the trench crossed. Sewer lines are one part of our excavation and site work. New homes and buildings often need a water service connection too, and we install those as well.

FAQ

Sewer Line Repair Questions, Answered

Common questions about sewer line repair around Macomb County and the rest of Metro Detroit. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (877) 633-5773

How do I know my sewer line needs repair?
Slow drains in several fixtures and backups that keep coming back are the common signs. Sewage odors inside or outside the home point the same way. So does an unusually green or soggy patch in the yard. A camera inspection confirms the problem and shows where it sits.
Who owns the sewer line between my house and the street?
In most Macomb County communities, the homeowner owns the sewer lead from the house to the main. Harrison Township, for one, clears blockages in its sewer main only. Blockages in the lead, from the building up to the main, are the homeowner's to clear. Your city or township's water and sewer department can confirm where its part starts.
Can you connect a new home or building to the municipal sewer?
Yes, we install new sewer lines from the building to the main for builders and property owners. Your city or township sets the permit and tap steps for the connection. In Macomb Township, tap fees and frontage fees are two key parts of the permit cost. Where no sewer reaches the lot, the home needs septic system installation instead.
How much of my yard gets dug up?
An open trench follows the pipe, so a full replacement opens the path from the house to the main. A repair needs only a short trench over the break. Afterward we compact the backfill in lifts and put the surface back, whether it was lawn or pavement.
Do you clear clogged sewer lines?
That is a plumber's job, or a drain cleaning company's. We repair or replace the line when the pipe itself has failed. A camera inspection tells you which job you have.
How much does sewer line replacement cost?
Length and depth drive most of the price. Restoring a driveway or the street adds to it, and so do the permit fees your city or township sets. We look at the site and give you a free written estimate. Our guide to what sewer line replacement costs in Michigan covers the market numbers.
